No more small needles...just a big fat one now. But at least she can bend her arms. |
Erika has returned from her central line procedure. Dr. Mitchell, who is the one watching over her throughout her treatment, gave us the answer on what she really has. Erika has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
She will be given steroid injections to help with her pain before they begin any chemo treatment. Sometime this weekend, Dr. Mitchell will give us an answer on whether she tests positive for Philadelphia Chromosome or not. Knowing this will determine what exact treatment she will be on regarding chemo. Along with that test, she will most likely get a spinal tap and an MRI on her brain to see if the leukemia cells have settling in those areas. If so we know then we need to treat her with chemo there as well.
For now, here are her stats:
red blood cells: shes at 24 (norm 30-40)
white blood cells: .7 (norm 5-10)
ANC (absolute neutrophil count): 100 (norm 2000-4000)
platelets: 56 (norm 150-300)
I will be postings these numbers daily. From when all this started, her pain level has been (from 1-10) 10 down to 7. Right now she's at a 7. I have no doubt these numbers will go up. SHE WILL KICK BUTT!
